Description
This is to advise that on September 17, 2014, Chedabucto Aggregates Limited will register the Chedabucto Aggregates Quarry Expansion for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to consolidate the existing quarry operations in Halfway Cove, located approximately 13 km southeast of Guysborough, and expand to a total proposed quarry area of 11.4 hectares. The proposed expansion, scheduled for 2015, is required to maintain current levels of production at the site. Production levels and operations are not expected to increase as a result of the proposed expansion.
Minister's Decision
On November 6, 2014 the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF:36k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:173k).
