Project Description
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct a natural gas liquefaction plant and marine terminal in Goldboro, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. The facility will have a capacity to receive, liquefy and export nominal 10 million tonnes of natural gas per annum (Mtpa). The on-site gross storage capacity for liquid natural gas (LNG) will be approximately 690,000 m3 in three 230,000 m3 tanks.
Project Update
The Minister has authorized an extension for the commencement of work effective October 24, 2017, and expiring March 21, 2019. The Proponent must, on or before March 21, 2019, commence work on the Undertaking unless granted a written extension by the Minister.
Minister's Decision
On March 21, 2014, the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF:36k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the project in accordance with Section 40(1) of the Environment Act. The project has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:219k).
