Description
On December 3, 2004, Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration Document for a proposed quarry expansion at Kemptown Road Quarry, Colchester County.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to expand the existing Kemptown Road Quarry footprint to allow for future aggregate production (blasting and crushing), stockpiling and occasional asphalt production. The proposed activities will take place over the next 10 years and will involve approximately 16 hectares of land immediately adjacent to the existing quarry.
Minister's Decision
On December 29, 2004, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decision (PDF:21k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:28k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.
