Environmental Stewardship and Climate Change Program

The Environmental Stewardship and Climate Change Program will support the agricultural sector to reduce environmental risk and enhance environmental benefits, as well as reduce GHG emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. This program will support primary producers in accelerating adoption of priority Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs).

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be a farm, Mi'kmaq conducting farming activities in a Mi'kmaw community or a community pasture.

Farms must:

  • be currently registered under the Farm Registration Act.
  • generate an annual eligible gross commodity income of at least $30,000.
  • be actively farming in the program year and the applicant must be 19 years of age or older.

Community pastures must:

  • be registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stocks.
  • have a bank account established for financial activities of the community pasture.
  • if the community pasture is located on lands owned by the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board, be a leaseholder in good standing.

Application Due: May 31, 2025
Claim Deadline: November 30, 2025

How to apply

Submit a complete application including a complete and current Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) by the application deadline listed.

Applicants new to Programs since 2023 must complete the Program Funding Registration (PFR) form. Returning applicants are to update their PFR form as necessary.
