A Pollinator’s Habitat and its Connection to Agriculture

A learning experience exploring the importance of pollinators to crops in Nova Scotia and their necessary habitats

This resource supports Grade 4 Science outcomes. Learners will explore the importance of pollination to Nova Scotia agriculture and examine how they could help farmers to protect native pollinator habitats. Background information is provided on pollinators and what fruits and vegetables require pollination to flourish as well as habitats for different pollinators.

  • printed student habitat journal

  • staff support to answer questions

Eligibility

Grade 4 teachers in Nova Scotia public schools can apply.

How to apply

  1. Determine if the pollinator's habitat production resource is a good fit for your classroom room.
  2. Complete the application form.
  3. The Department of Agriculture will review all applications.
  4. Teachers will be contacted and sent the resources.

How long it takes

In most cases, teachers will be notified within 10 days of receipt of application. Teachers will be provided with the lesson plan and an approximate date for delivery of supplies by email.

Cost

There is no cost to participate in this program.
