Who Needs This Certificate? |
|
Anyone who wants to get a Canadian (Firearm) Possession and Acquisition Licence, or a Minor's Licence; or Anyone who wants to prove knowledge of firearms and firearms safety laws. (For example, to qualify to take the Nova Scotia Hunter Education Course.)

Application Forms & Process: |
|
It is recommended that applicants be at least 12 years old. The applicant contacts Safety Services NS and their name is placed on a list for courses and tests (or tests alone). They will be notified in advance of the next courses/tests being available. (See Where can you get ..., above, for contact information.)

|
Courses are scheduled based on public demand. The usual waiting period is between 2 weeks to 2 months. |

Each course: $80 (non-refundable)
*Handbook is available online or at cost from the course provider.

An applicant is not eligible for this Course / Certificate if they are prohibited from possession of firearms. |
Additional Information: |

This Certificate is not needed for an (Adult) Possession Only Licence. It is, however, needed for the Minor's Possession Only Licence. These courses and tests are a pre-requisite for the Atlantic Provinces Hunter Education Course (Part B). [For more information, see N.S.
