1. Why do we need provincial committees?

Throughout our engagement efforts in developing the Sexual Violence Strategy, Nova Scotians identified the critical importance of public awareness and education as components in a comprehensive approach to addressing sexual violence. Increasing our understanding of sexual violence, the impact of trauma, and our capacity to respond compassionately and nonjudgmentally have all been identified as elements of a better response and support for victims.

2. What is the purpose of the Provincial Committee – Training?

The purpose of the Provincial Committee - Training is to work collaboratively to develop appropriate training materials related to sexual violence for multiple sectors and strategize for the foundation for a provincial training network in Nova Scotia.

The functions include:

  • Provide advice and guidance in the development of key components, methods and content of training materials;
  • Consider available research and best practices information in recommendations for training material design and delivery;

5. What is the time commitment?
