Bear Head LNG Project

Description

This is to advise that on April 8, 2015, Bear Head LNG Corporation (Bear Head LNG) registered the Bear Head LNG Project Registration Document, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

Bear Head LNG intends to resume development of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility in Point Tupper, NS for the purpose of exporting LNG. Completed works include access roads, land clearing, site preparation and the installation of two LNG tank foundations. Bear Head LNG proposes to use and expand upon the existing infrastructure to export eight (8) million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually. The project is scheduled for front-end engineering and design in 2015, engineering, procurement and construction between 2016 and 2019, and operation beginning in 2019. Remaining construction will involve importing facility components by road and by sea.

Minister's Decision

On May 15, 2015 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:30k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
