How to Apply
Follow these steps to apply for Post-Secondary Accessibility Services (PSAS):
- Complete your application for Nova Scotia Student Assistance.
You will need to create an account in MyPATH, then apply for student assistance.
- Submit documentation to verify your disability during your study period by either:
- having your medical assessor complete the verification of disability form (PDF) and upload it to MyPATH, or
- if you are self-declaring a learning disability, upload a current psychoeducational assessment (assessment completed within 5 years or over the age of 12 with a current verification by a psychologist)
- for full-time students, upload to MyPATH by clicking on the "self-declare as a student with a disability" link on the left side of the page
- for part-time applications, upload your document to MyPATH as part of your part-time application.
Once your documentation is reviewed by PSAS, you will receive a notification in MyPATH.
- If your disability is verified, you can submit requests for CSG-DSE funding for services and equipment.
For full-time students, you can make requests in MyPATH.
For part-time students, you will need to complete an application for part-time service and equipment funding (PDF) and upload it to MyPATH.
- Have your requests for funding reviewed by your accessibility advisor or PSAS staff.
For students attending school at a Nova Scotia public post-secondary institution, please contact your accessibility advisor (PDF).
For students attending private career colleges in Nova Scotia or students attending a post-secondary institution outside of Nova Scotia, please contact PSAS to review your requests by email at PSAS@novascotia.ca.
CSG-DSE funding will only be issued when the student loan application is assessed and there is financial need of at least $1. Students who do not have a student loan cannot access funding for CSG-DSE.
Any approvals or refusals of funding requests will appear in your MyPATH under notices or action items.
- Submit any receipts for services and equipment 30 days before your study end date. Funding cannot be issued after your study end date.
All requests for funding must be reviewed and approved by an advisor or PSAS staff before any funding can be issued.
All requests for funding must align with federal guidelines for CSG-DSE. This means only certain equipment and services are eligible. Frequencies and maximums also apply. All approvals for funding are based on your documented disability and associated functional limitations.
