Planning New Opportunities Program

The Planning New Opportunities Program helps farms, agri-businesses and agricultural industry associations be more competitive, manage transition, develop risk management strategies and respond to change.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be a farm, Mi'kmaq conducting farming activities in a Mi'kmaw community, agri-business or agriculture industry association.

Farms must:

  • be currently registered under the Farm Registration Act.
  • generate an annual eligible gross commodity income of at least $30,000.
  • be actively farming in the program year and the applicant must be 19 years of age or older.

Agri-businesses must:

  • represent Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products.
  • generate an annual eligible gross income of at least $30,000.
  • demonstrates the value or use of Nova Scotia products/ingredients

Agricultural industry associations must:

  • demonstrate not-for-profit status
  • represent Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products.

Deadline or important dates

Program Opening: April 24, 2025
Application Due: September 30, 2025
Claim Deadline: February 28, 2026

How to apply

Submit a complete application with all supporting project quotes by the application deadline listed.

Applicants new to Programs since 2023 must complete the Program Funding Registration (PFR) form. Returning applicants are to update their PFR form as necessary.
