Insurance Companies

Insurance companies must be licensed in order to operate in Nova Scotia.  Most insurance companies are licensed federally, with a smaller number licensed directly by the Province.

Initial Licensing

To be a licensed insurer in Nova Scotia, download and complete the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators Application for Insurer’s Licence (pdf).

With the completed form, include the applicable license fees, as listed on the Insurance Fees page.

Licensing Renewal

For insurer licence renewal, complete the Insurer Licence Renewal Form (pdf).

With the completed form, include the applicable license fees, as listed on the Insurance Fees page.
