The Natural Sciences Library houses a collection of materials such as books, journals, maps, aerial photographs and Crown land grants. It collects and maintains a collection of resources that supports the work of the Department of Natural Resources. Resources include information on geoscience, mining, land use, forestry, wildlife, Crown land and related topics.
The library serves Department of Natural Resources staff, provincial and federal government personnel, mining and forestry industries, prospectors, scientists, consultants, educators, students and the general public.
The library is currently undergoing a renovation project and has temporarily closed its in-person services.
Although the physical collection will not be available for browsing during the renovation, access to the most frequently used materials will continue to be provided whenever possible. These include:

The library provides reference services and interlibrary loans for free. There are charges of $0.10 per page for printing and photocopying. A scanner may be used, subject to copyright regulations.
The library distributes and/or sells departmental publications. Prices vary, contact the library for more information.
Prepayment is required on all shipped orders. Cheques and money orders must be in Canadian dollars. Cheques should be made payable to the Minister of Finance. Visitors may pay with cash or cheque, orders which are shipped may be paid by Visa or Mastercard. Direct debit is not accepted.
5% Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be added on all text documents (e.g. books, reports, open file reports, papers, pamphlets, etc.) and 14% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on all maps and shipping and handling costs.
