The Nova Scotia Crop and Livestock Insurance Commission fosters private sector economic growth through its crop and livestock based AgriInsurance programs encouraging employment and economic growth in Nova Scotia rural communities.
Also known as Production Insurance or Crop Insurance, AgriInsurance adds a degree of predictability to farm businesses by protecting against the effects of yield reductions and crop or livestock losses caused by naturally occurring perils.
The Commission offers 16 crop insurance plans, as well as dairy and poultry plans, that help farmers manage risk on their farms by maintaining cash flows during poor crop years.
The Commission also administers a Wildlife Compensation Program under the AgriInsurance platform.
