Youth Health Centres (YHCs) are currently accessible to 52 locations across Nova Scotia. These centres provide young people with health education, health promotion, information and referral, follow-up and support, as well as some clinical services. The majority are located in high schools across the province.
Nova Scotia is the only jurisdiction in Canada with standards to guide the delivery of services. The Youth Health Centre Standards and Guidelines were created to guide operations. In September 2009, Youth Health Centres in Nova Scotia: An Evaluation was released, detailing the difference that YHCs are making for Nova Scotia’s young people.
