Nova Scotia Chronic Pain

The Nova Scotia Chronic Pain (NSCP) Initiative provides a provincial approach to the delivery of chronic pain services in Nova Scotia.

The chronic pain initiative continues to support chronic pain services across the province. The focus is to empower individuals, families, partners and communities to promote, improve, and maintain the health of Nova Scotians living with chronic pain.

Those who attend a community based chronic pain clinic meet with the chronic pain team and have access to a chronic pain self-management program which is a core service of the clinic.

Participants learn how to:

  • Get started with making life style changes such as healthy eating and activity
  • Manage their symptoms
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Manage fear, anger and frustration
  • Talk to their health care providers
  • Set goals and learn how to problem solve

Please contact the coordinator in your community or the Primary Health Care Branch DHW at 424-5375 for further information.
