Making noise to keep coyotes away or scare them off during an encounter is essential

Making a coyote noise maker is an easy, quick and fun project. You will need:

  • One pop or juice can
  • 15-20 pennies
  • Aluminum foil
  • Masking tape or duct tape

coyote shaker

To make the coyote shaker place the pennies in the can. Cover the opening with a piece of tape. Cut a piece of aluminum foil large enough to fit around the can. Cover the can with the piece of aluminum foil, folding in the top and bottom edges. Tape the seam closed.

If you encounter a coyote shake the can vigorously, making as much noise as possible. Shake the can over your head, acting as large as you can. Back away from the animal.
