Registry of Buyers - Report on Primary Forest Products Acquired and Business Summaries Report FOR 2000-4
This summary is published annually to report the statistical information related to the purchase of primary forest products, forest harvesting, and the production of secondary forest products in Nova Scotia. This information is collected from companies and individuals involved in the forest sector who acquire primary forest products.
Summary
The total provincial harvest for 1999 is reported to be 6 163 710 m³ of solid wood. Approximately 88%, or 5 431 590 m³, were softwood species. Wood exported was reported at 1 027 250 m³ or 16% of the total. The total provincial harvest for 1999 shows an increase of approximately 6% over the 1998 harvest of 5 839 980 m³. Exported wood increased by an estimated 12% when compared to the 1998 figure of 915 162 m³.
As of August 24th, 2000 there were 434 Registered Buyers of which 362 are reported as being active. Information was reported by 350 buyers and data was estimated for 12 buyers. Only the names and location s of the fully compliant 350 Buyers are included in this report.
