Nova Scotia's Provincial Parks in Winter

DECEMBER 1982

By the time the ground is covered with a deep blanket of snow, our many parks have been put to bed till the next summer season. But park use need not stop with the closing of the gate. Winter offers an opportunity to explore the parks on foot, skis or snowshoes and an excellent opportunity to identify the animal residents by their tracks.

The roads and pathways in many parks are excellent for these activities. In addition, cross country ski trails have been established in Five Islands and Beaver Mountain Provincial Parks. As the parks are not serviced during the winter months, the buildings are inaccessible and all garbage should be packed out. Nevertheless you are invited to come and experience your Provincial Parks and the beauty of the winter season.
