Important notice about bear hunting in Cape Breton

June 2020

Possession or use of a rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader is prohibited in areas covered by Moose Management Zones 2 and 3 between September 14 and October 10, 2020. This order has been made by the Minister of Lands and Forestry under subsection 21(1) of the Wildlife Act (PDF 48 kB).

Bear hunting may be conducted by trapping, snaring, crossbow in these areas, but use of firearms is not permitted.
