Description
On 7 August 2024, Clydesdale Holdings Ltd registered the Clydesdale Ridge Wind Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct up to 18 wind turbines for a wind energy project located in both Colchester and Pictou Counties, near the communities of Mt Thom, Earltown, Loganville, and Berichan. The components of the Project include the wind turbines, new roads, upgrades to existing roads, electrical collector lines and temporary laydown areas. The Project will produce up to 126 MW of renewable energy from wind turbines that are up to 200 m tall to the tip of the blade and individually produce up to 7 MW. The Proponent is developing and will own and operate the Project in partnership with Mi'kmaq communities in Nova Scotia. Site preparation activities for Project construction would start in 2025 at the earliest. The Project is expected to be operational for a minimum of 25 years starting in 2027.
Minister's Decision
On or before 26 September 2024, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change will decide if the project can be granted conditional environmental assessment approval.
