Important notice about bear hunting in Cape Breton

Possession or use of a rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader is prohibited in areas covered by Moose Management Zones 2, 3 and 4. This order is effective for the period from the second Monday in September until the Saturday following the first Monday in October, both dates inclusive, in each of the years 2024, 2025 and 2026. This order has been made by the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables under subsection 21(1) of the Wildlife Act (PDF 48 kB).

Bear hunting may be conducted by trapping, snaring, crossbow in these areas, but use of firearms is not permitted.
