Benefits For Children

Child Tax Benefits

The provincial and federal governments both pay a tax-free monthly benefit to eligible families with children under the age of 18.

The provincial government’s program is called the Nova Scotia Child Benefit (NSCB) and the federal government’s program is the Canada Child Benefit (CCB). Both are issued as a single, tax-free, monthly payment. There is no need to apply. Amounts are calculated and automatically issued based on the previous year’s tax return.
