In Nova Scotia, individuals living in Mi'kmaw communities have access to continuing care services through provincially and federally funded programs. Eligibility for provincial continuing care services varies, depending on whether a person lives in a Mi'kmaw community and whether they are a Registered Status individual under the federal Indian Act and therefore have access to similar federally funded services.
This fact sheet (PDF) provides a summary of provincial Continuing Care services available to Mi’kmaw individuals in Nova Scotia.
The Aboriginal Continuing Care Policy Forum (ACCPF) brings together representation from Mi'kmaw communities, tribal organizations, Nova Scotia Health, and the provincial and federal government to facilitate action on multi-jurisdictional issues that will advance improved quality of continuing care and access to continuing care and related services for Indigenous people living in Nova Scotia.
