Truck Regulatory Review

The Government of Nova Scotia has embarked on the Better Regulation Initiative. All departments and agencies are reviewing their respective legislation and regulations, policies and procedures with the objective of reducing the regulatory burden by 20% by 2010.

Departments are trying to reduce the burden placed on Nova Scotians' by making forms easier to access, reducing the length of forms, re-evaluating renewal periods, and by looking at ways to make it easier to comply with the rules.

In 2008, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations have hired the Orca Transportation Safety Group to assist in conducting a review of the Nova Scotia trucking regulations, policies and procedures to identify additional efficiencies that can be achieved in current practices and reduce the regulatory burden.
