- You'll have a criminal record
- You'll lose your license for at least two years
- You'll be fined at least $1,000
- You'll have to complete an addictions program
- You'll have to participate in the Alcohol Ignition Interlock Program, at your own cost and for 12 extra months.
What is the Alcohol Ignition Interlock Program?
- An alcohol interlock device is installed in your vehicle. It's a small, hand-held, breath-testing device fitted to a vehicle's ignition
- You must take and pass a breath test by blowing into the device. If alcohol is detected and is higher than a pre-set limit, the vehicle will not start.
