  • You'll lose your license for at least two years
  • You'll be fined at least $1,000
  • You'll have to complete an addictions program
  • You'll have to participate in the Alcohol Ignition Interlock Program, at your own cost and for 12 extra months.


What is the Alcohol Ignition Interlock Program?

  • An alcohol interlock device is installed in your vehicle. It's a small, hand-held, breath-testing device fitted to a vehicle's ignition
  • You must take and pass a breath test by blowing into the device. If alcohol is detected and is higher than a pre-set limit, the vehicle will not start.
