National and Provincial Parks

Although no National or Provincial park in Nova Scotia has been designated specifically to protect geoheritage, each park has a characteristic landscape shaped by the underlying geology. The beachscape of each of the province's many beach parks, for example, is very much a geological phenomenon. Certain parks, such as Five Islands Provincial Park and Arisaig Provincial Park, include significant geological features or fossil sites.
