Till Geochemical Survey over Mainland Nova Scotia

DP ME 138, Version 2, 2006. Till Geochemical Survey by the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources over Mainland Nova Scotia, 1977-1982

Abstract

A surficial mapping and till geochemistry program covering the southern mainland Meguma Terrane in Nova Scotia, was conducted from 1977-1982 by the Canada Department of Regional Economic Expansion and Nova Scotia Department of Mines. Surficial mapping and trace element analysis of till deposits in northern mainland Nova Scotia was conducted from 1982-1985. This part of the project was funded under the Canada - Nova Scotia Cooperative Mineral Program 1981-84 and the Canada - Nova Scotia Mineral Development Agreement. An average of 140 samples per 1000 km2 were taken. Depending on the year of the survey, samples were analyzed for: Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, Ca, Mg, Hg, As, Mo, U, Sn, W, and Ba. This data set was previously included as part of a compilation of geochemical surveys and released as DP ME 004 Version 1. This data set was previously called meg_till and later renamed to c138mlct. Further information about the survey and analysis can be found in the draft documents: survey_description.wpd, elements.wb3 and fields.wb3 that are supplied with the data set.
