Abstract

The Department of Energy and Mines (DEM) and Nova Scotia Environment (NSE) maintains an electronic Well Log Database which contains water well construction and location information for water wells in the Province of Nova Scotia. Information in the database is entered from original paper copies of well logs that are submitted by certified well drillers and well diggers to NSE. This version of the database was extracted on March 6, 2020 and contains 123,394 well logs constructed between 1940 and 2020, inclusive.

Format ESRI shape files (SHP), ArcGIS File Geodatabase (GDB), a Google Earth compatible file format (KML\KMZ), and TXT files compressed in a single ZIP file (more information on data formats)

Projection The data is in six-degree Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, Zone 20, Central Meridian 63° 00' West using the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83).
