Abstract

This digital product consists of data from a till geochemical survey undertaken in the fall of 2016 and summer of 2017 by NR&R staff in the Warwick Mountain project area of the eastern Cobequid Highlands of Nova Scotia. It consists of 182 samples with an approximate 1 km2 sampling grid extent taken over the Byers Brook-Diamond Brook volcanic belt. The dataset consists of sample location information, sample descriptions, lab geochemistry for 181 samples analyzed for Au, Ag, Cu, Cd, Mo, Pb, Ni, Zn, S, Al, As, Ba, Be, Bi, Br, Ca, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, Ga, Ge, Hg, In, Ir, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Nb, Na, P, Rb, Re, Sb, Sc, Se, Sn, Sr, Ta, Te, Tb, Ti, Th, Tl, V, U, W,Y, Zr, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu by Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA), multiple methods INAA/TD-ICP-MS/TD-ICP/TD-MS, Total Digestion ICP(Total)/Total Digestion ICP/MS and a subset of 52 samples for Au, Pt, Pd by Fire Assay.

This survey, along with surficial and bedrock geological mapping and a silt survey, was a component of renewed bedrock and mineral deposit research on the epithermal gold potential of the Byers Brook and Diamond Brook formations. This till geochemistry sampling survey was conducted to establish regional background data on till composition and geochemistry, and identify prospective areas and suitable sampling media for further geochemical exploration.

Downloading Instructions

The data files have been compressed using IZArc into a single ZIP file.

  1. Read the Licence before accepting the data.
  2. Download the ZIP file to the desired location on your computer hard drive.
  3. Unzip and extract the data onto your computer. We STRONGLY recommend you unzip our data to a consistent area on your hard drive (e.g. C:\nsDNR\).

All data sets are in six-degree Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 20 projection using the NAD83 datum.

A readme file and a copy of the licence agreement are also included with each data set.
